Why we choose organic for our little loves
At Illoura, we know how delicate and sensitive a baby’s skin can be, especially in those first few months. That is why it is so important that we create clothing that is soft and gentle on your little loves skin and our planet. Organic Cotton is naturally cultivated and doesn’t use any harsh pesticides or fertilisers during the harvesting process; the result is a much softer fibre which helps to avoid the risk of skin irritation. Organically grown cotton also promotes soil fertility, biodiversity and sustains the health of ecosystems, workers and surrounding communities. All of our Pure Beginnings pieces are curated from Organic Cotton with both your little one and the health of our planet in mind.
GOTS certified cotton? Everything you need to know
Organic: is grown without the use of synthetic pesticides, herbicides or GMOs (Genetic Modified Organisms) according to the principles of organic agriculture. Organic agriculture is a production process that sustains the health of ecosystems, soils and people. Organically grown cotton replenishes the soil and promotes biodiversity ensuring a healthy ecosystem and workplace for farmers. Healthy soil also provides an opportunity to store large amounts of carbon, which is beneficial for our climate. Organic cotton uses up to 88% less water & 62% less energy compared to conventional cotton. By using GOTS certified cotton, we are guaranteed that the cotton we use has been farmed and manufactured to a global standard, meeting strict criteria for environmental and ethical practices. We have chosen to only use GOTS certified organic cotton in our Pure Beginnings collection, ensuring that from start to finish our pieces are having as little impact on the environment and the people who make them as possible.
