Hello! I’m Paula, currently enjoying my little postpartum Bubble in the beautiful hills of Myocum on a property surrounded by nature with our beautiful 2 month old daughter Arlie, my dream partner Ben and our sweet kelpie Tala.

What has been the most surprising or unexpected aspect of motherhood for you so far?
Hmm I think the most surprising aspect would have to be how differently I see myself. How much more capable I am than I imagined I would be and how heart expanding yet breaking it is watching the tiny person you created grow and change. Every day she wakes up she’s a new version of herself, It’s incredible.

How do you find moments of self-care and rejuvenation amidst  the demands of motherhood?
At this stage it’s all about the small wins! Enjoying a cup of tea while it’s still hot, sitting in the sunshine, long hot showers, walks around our property, small trips out of the house by myself. I’ve also started painting again in between Arlie's nap times.

What are some of the most meaningful ways friends and family have supported you during your transition into motherhood?
When I first got home with Arlie I was actually quite surprised with how much support I received. Family and friends were offering lots of assistance, bringing frozen meals for us and checking in each day it was so lovely and I felt very held and supported. My birth itself was quite traumatic so it was extra important to me to have the postpartum period be as healing and complication free as possible. And thankfully it was! Arlie is also an amazing sleeper and all around easy baby so I’ve managed to be well rested most days, but I’m bias of course ( fingers crossed the sleeping part continues hehe )

How have you navigated the balance between embracing the joys of motherhood and maintaining your personal identity and passions?
I’ve just recently picked up my paintbrush again so this has been a great way to reconnect to that part of myself pre baby. Being around friends has also been wonderful during this time even if it isn’t super often. But I’ve actually quite enjoyed getting lost in motherhood. I’m looking forward to discovering this new version of myself. Just as much as Arlies growing up, I am too.
